I am new to Houston and I really want to get to know people in their 30's. Particularly guys. I do not want to do online dating and find it really worthless. Are there any places in Houston that I can meet single people (specifically from the opposite sex) in their 30's?

The Dog Park near Allen parkway, the Running Trail, Sports Bars, Sporats Clubs, more activity based places and charity events.
Your 30's is tricky (I'm 34) and most of us don't hang out in bars as much as we did in our 20's... Good Luck Houston is a fantastic place to meet people though, and I'm sure you'll have no problems!

It depends on your lifestyle. If your athletic joining an adventure race team and or partIcIpatIngthe races. For me this was a great way to socialize with women in a non-hostile environment. If you're a foodie the various yelp events are cool. If you have a dog, the dog park is fun. Personally I never liked the big parks and I felt like a piece of meat at the smaller ones. Definitely more women than men. Living inside the loop helps vs outside, just more activities in general. Plus things are closer.

I saw a bunch of people on the hunt yesterday at Brasserie 19. The place was crazy. And for a bonus we saw Linda Evangelista! She still looks good for her age.

Thanks, I wont be doing the dog park since I dont have any pets. I have never been lucky at a sport bar. Guys are usually in packs, just focusing on the games and as soon as the game is over they leave. Charity events? I dont know about that.
I guess I'll try that tasting room and Brasserie 19. If those are the only two options, that's pretty sad.- Austin, TX

Amanda - 4th largest city in the country - make it happen. Instead on crapping on these ideas, perhaps you could be just a little bit helpful and offer ideas on where you like to go and where you do like to meet people. I personally don't know where dudes in their 30's like to look for older women, but Uptown Park, Upper Kirby, any steak house is where you'll find the more mature meat markets since charities or making an effort aren't your things. BTW - wierd that people would think you have a dog, right?
Think there's a runner on here that's single and ready to mingle. Maybe his name's different today....- Houston, TX

Go after the guys who hang out in lesbian bars, they'll usually have their guard down and will be easy to flatter since they'll be surrounded by chicks that they can't have.

+1 for David N's comment: To wit, the OP will fall off the face of the earth and never report back on anything she actually did to solve the 'I want to meet new people but not ugly or poor ones, thanks' problem.
+1 for Mike W's very funny diss of the OP's 'crapping' of ideas presented. Well played, sir.- Houston, TX

Amanda - go where you like going, if its a wine bar, lounge, restaurant etc.. Men will be there.
Go check out Anvil for some fancy old fashioned cocktails. I've meet some interesting and foreign ppl there. Well then again- where I go I meet interesting ppl. Lol. Let me know what you like to do and maybe I can throw you some places. ;)
Also meet.com has networking or singles meet up for happy hour check that out.- Austin, TX

Top Golf is actually the best idea. I frequent the Dallas site. Usually on weekends there's always a 2-3+ hour wait so guys tend to hit the adjacent bar to pass the time. Nothing more conducive to meeting strangers than alcohol and solicited banter to pass the time. So much can be worked from this angle...

LoL @ what Mike W said about our 'Runner'. And he really is ready to mingle. He used to have a pic up & he seemed cute (if that was a real pic). You should look him up. I think he said he was half Russian and half Venezuelan or something like that (can't remember). ;-)

I'm curious why people say where guys in their 30's like to meet older women. Did she say she was older looking to date guys in their 30's?
It also depends on what kind of guys you like beyond 'professional'- Austin, TX

I actually offered you three places to go and suggested you offer some info to help refine responses to match your apparently specific but vague and unspoken criteria. Also try meetup.com, cardboard signs at red lights, and sky writers. That's 6...count em SIX suggestions for one low, low price....can we make a deal?!? What's it gonna take for me to put you in a 30 year old today? Would you pay $300? How bout $30? Fuck that!!! We're gonna hook you up with a dude.....with a pulse....in his 30's....for wait for it....3 Washingtons!!!! Holy shit folks.....we're wheelin and dealin down at Mike Dub's House of Dudes!!! We provide the beefcakes....you bring the syrup!

I've got $3 in my pocket - I'm ready to go shopping at 'Mike Dub's House of Dudes'.
I'm not buying anything on 'Manager Special', though. I might even go as high as a Lincoln. You can't put a price on quality, you know. :)- Houston, TX
